Getting to Ensenada
Driving to Ensenada - Ensenada is located 70 miles south of the San Ysidro International Border. Take the 5 or 805 freeway south to the U.S. - Mexico border take the Playas de Tijuana exit or Rosarito/Ensenada Toll Road exit. The Playas de Tijuana road turns into the Tijuana-Ensenada Toll Road. Continue until you arrive in Ensenada. If you plan on driving into Ensenada make sure you get Mexican Insurance, it is required by law. We offer detailed maps and driving directions to Ensenada.
Getting to Ensenada by Air - The city with a regular commercial airport nearest to Ensenada is Tijuana. Commercial flights arrive at Abelardo Rodriguez International (TIJ) airport daily . From Tijuana to Ensenada it is an approximate 70 minutes on the Hwy. 1 toll road. Rental cars, buses and taxis are available just outside of the airport. Ensenada also has a small commercial airport, Aeropuerto El Cipres just south of downtown (Tel: (6) 176-6301). This airport does not accept commercial traffic.
Taxis in Ensenada - On the Mexican side of the border, the taxis are lined up by the dozens, just in from the border, after passing through the pedestrian walkway gates. The most important aspect is to negotiate your price before getting in the cab, because there are no meters. Standard fares to get to Ensenada is around $50 to $60. While in Ensenada you can find taxis easily near town or your hotel can call a taxi for you. You can pretty much get anywhere in ensenada by taxi for under $15.
Getting to Ensenada by Sea - Ensenada is a busy port accepting both small sailboat to cruise ships. You can either sail directly into the port and pay an anchorage fee or sail to one of the fine private marinas such as the Hotel Coral & Marina it is best to make prior arrangments see hotels. If you sail into the port, you'll need to show your paper work to the Captain of the Port and pay any fees Tel: (646) 178-2761. Ensenada is visited by thousands of tourists via cruise ships on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Bus to Ensenada - Buses are available on both sides of the Ensenada border. On the U.S. side, the Greyhound Bus Terminal and Mexicoach are located on the east side of Interstate 5, about 100 feet from the Mexican border. There are several different bus companies lined up in front of the parking lots on the U.S. side of the border. These buses offer departure and pickup to Ensenada several times per day.

Ensenada Mexico Time Zone and Current Weather
Time Zone - Ensenada Mexico lies in the Pacific standard Time Zone or PST. The clock time in this zone is based on the mean solar time of the 105th degree meridian west of the Greenwich Observatory. Pacific Standard Time (PST) is 8 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT-8). Ensenada is in the same time zone as San Diego and Las Angeles. Pacific Time Zone is one hour behind the Mountain Time Zone and three hours behind the Eastern Time Zone. Baja California Norte observing PDT = Pacific Daylight Time in summer and PST = Pacific Standard (Tiempo del Pacifico) in winter.
Ensenada Weather - It has a coastal climate similar to San Diego's. Esenada weather is considered to be Medeteranian like, with warm sunny days in the (70s F / 20s C) and cool evenings in the 40s-60s. Even during the warm summer months a cool Pacific current keeps summers mild and comfortable. During the winter months Lows can get into the mid 40s and afternoon highs average 68 degrees. The winter can have small periods of rain, howeverit averages only about 10 inches of rain per year. Bring a jacket during the winter months.
