La Paz Fishing
The city of La Paz's main tourist activity is by far fishing. Jacques Cousteau nicknamed the Sea of Cortez the "Aquarium of the World" with more than 700 species of fish and La Paz is the gateway to some of the best sports fishing in the world. The outer islands off the coast of La Paz offers the best opportunities to fish, especially Cerralvo Island, an uninhabited island located southeast of Espiritu Santo. Considered by many to be among the top five fishing spots in the world, due to the two massive deep-water channels that funnel huge schools of fish. The waters around the island are rich with Grouper, Broadbill Swordfish, Marlin, Sailfish, and other big game fish. The peak season for big game fish is April through November. Almost all fishing that is done in La Paz requires a boat, which can be arranged by almost any major hotel or by walking down to the marinas. If you are sport fishing in La Paz from a boat, you will need to purchase a fishing license. Below is a list of types of fishing in the La Paz area of Baja California, Mexico.
