Loreto Scuba Diving
The outer islands that make up the Loreto National Marine Park is an amazing area for scuba diving. The park covers 2,065 square kilometers in the Sea of Cortez. The marine park consist of five islands Isla del Carmen, Isla Catalina, Isla Coronado, Isla Danzante and Isla Montserrat. The Park is home to over 800 species of marine life. Underwater, divers can swim among seals, dolphins, and colorful tropical fish; on land, you will find birds and reptiles. Thier are many rock reefs, seamounts and underwater caves for exploration. The north end of Isla Coronado is one of the best dive spots in Loreto. Isla de Carmen has a 120 foot sunken freighter and a sunken twin engine plane. Isla Danzante is known for its amazing string of granite islets called Los Candeleros; the vertical walls are perfect for scuba diving.
