Getting to San Felipe
Driving to San Felipe - San Felipe Baja California is the Northern most beach resort community on the West side of the Sea of Cortez. Located 124 miles south from Calexico/ Mexicali Border, and 230 miles from San Diego. To get to San Felipe from Mexicali border take highway MEX 5 all the way to San Felipe. You can also get there from Ensenada via Highway MEX 3. If you plan on driving make sure you get Mexican Auto Insurance, it is required by law. Getting to San Felipe by Air - The city of San Felipe has an international airport that is operated by the State Government. The closest airports in the area are the San Felipe Airport (SFH) located right in San Felipe and the San Quintin Southeast airport (SNQ) located approximately 73 miles (118 km) southwest of San Felipe in San Quintin, Mexico. Bus to San Felipe - Buses are available on both sides of the San Diego border. On the U.S. side, the Greyhound Bus Terminal and Mexicoach are located on the east side of Interstate 5, about 100 feet from the Mexican border. There are several different bus companies lined up in front of the parking lots on the U.S. side of the border. These buses offer departure and pickup to San Felipe several times per day. San Felipe is a remote desert community enjoying the benefits of a warm, dry, winter climate, and a hot, humid (Florida-like) summer, the averature annual temperature in San Felipe is 75°F. Temperatures have ranged from 115°F in the shade during the summer months of July and August and, in December and January, the temperature can get to a low of about 40°F at night. The Sea of Cortez does offer cool breezes during the summer months, however it still feels hot. There are plenty of palapas offering shade.
