Almost all of the main hotels in Huatulco, Mexico offer shops, selling toiletries, magazines and clothes. Howeve, if you want to find local crafts, you will need to catch a cab into town. Huatulco's main shopping is located just 5 minutes from the main hotel district in Tangolunda, in two town La Crucecita and in Santa Cruz. If you are looking for crafts such as jewelry, wooden sculptures, black clay Oaxacan pots made only in Oaxaca from special dark clay, Oaxacan embroidered blouses, or even mezcal, you should head to the Santa Cruz Market, by the marina in Santa Cruz, and the Crucecita Market, on Guamuchil, a half-block from the plaza. The shopping areas are small in size (just about 3 city blocks) so you can do all your shopping in Huatulco on foot. In Crucecita there is a small two story mall called Plaza Oaxaca. If you are looking for good deals stay away from the plaza, however this is a good place to find touristy shirts, as well as native crafts and jewelry. In the plaza expect to pay about 10 to 20% more than you would on the street. On Saturdays and Sundays in the outskirts of La Crucecita is a flea market, you can find good deals on Oaxacan crafts, hardware and clothing.
