Getting to La Paz
Driving to La Paz - La Paz is the capital of Baja Sur and known as a small fishing village offering visitor's unspoiled beaches and the warm waters of Sea of Cortez. La Paz is located 926 miles south of the border at San Diego via Mexico Highway 1 - a well-paved and maintained two-lane highway. La Paz is also located 133 miles north of Cabo San Lucas. Getting to La Paz by Air - La Paz has an international airport Marquez de Leon International Airport (LAP). The La Paz airport is about 18km (11 miles) northwest of town along the highway to Ciudad Constitucion and Tijuana. It is a small airport however it offers a gift shop and a bar. Alaska Airlines, Delta Air, AeroMexico and Aero California are the main carriers for tourists arring from the US and CAN. Delta offers nonstop service between Los Angeles International Airport and La Paz, Mexico.
By Sea - Ferry service from La Paz, Baja to Mainland Mexico is available for passengers as well as automobiles, when it is in service. Always call first to confirm that the ferry is running, as it sometimes closed down for years at a time. The ferry departs the ferry terminal in Santa Rosalia in Baja California Sur and land in the city of San Carlos in Sonora Mexico. The ride takes around 6 to 9 hours. Bus to La Paz - Buses are available on both sides of the Tijuana border. On the U.S. side, the Greyhound Bus Terminal and Mexicoach are located on the east side of Interstate 5, about 100 feet from the Mexican border. La Paz Mexico Time Zone and Current Weather
Time Zone - La Paz Mexico lies in the Mountain Time Zone or MST. The clock time in this zone is based on the mean solar time of the 105th degree meridian west of the Greenwich Observatory. Mountain Standard Time (MST) is 7 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT-7). La Paz is one hour ahead of the Pacific Time Zone and one hour behind the Central Time Zone.
La Paz Weather - La Paz has over 300 hundred days of sunshine every year. La Paz's climate is typically dry, warm and sunny with a year around average of between 75F-77F. Summer months (July-September) are often in the 90's and can be humid. During the summer the cooling Coromuel winds, a weather phenomenon unique to the La Paz area, blow during the night from the Pacific over the Peninsula and into the Bay of La Paz. The winter months (December-February) are the coldest with temperatures reaching the low 60's. La Paz experiences only about 6 inches of rainfall per year.
