Getting to Tijuana
Driving to Tijuana - To get to Tijuana from the United States, use either freeway 5 or 805, both of which lead directly to the international crossing at San Ysidro, California. To enter at the Otay crossing leave either 5 or 805 at the exit to freeway 905 and proceed to follow that highway directly to the Otay crossing. Flying to Tijuana - The General Abelardo L. RodrÃguez International Airport (TIJ) is the city's airport, with eleven airlines serving destinations across the nation. It is one of the busiest airports in Mexico. Several commercial flights arrive and depart daily, including Aerocalifornia, Mexicana, and AeroMexico. Car rentals booths are inside (Avis, Budget, Hertz, and National) and taxis are outside, as well as buses.
Taxis in Tijuana - If you are going to Tijuana one thing you will never have to worry about is finding a taxi. On the Mexican side of the border, the taxis are lined up by the dozens, just in from the border, after passing through the pedestrian walkway gates. The most important aspect is to negotiate your price before getting in the cab, because there are no meters. Standard fares to get to downtown Tijuana is around $5. You can park your car on the American side of the border and wal across. There is plenty of paid parking.
San Diego Trolley to Tijuana - The San Diego Trolley offers round trip service from most areas in San Diego county to the international border in San Ysidro. The cost is very inexpensive, and once you are off of the Trolley, it's just a 5 minute walk to Tijuana, where you can catch a cab or bus. The buses are located right as you get off the trolley, look for the Greyhound station or Mexicoach red buses. The trolley stops and picks up about 50 feet from the border. Last departure is back to San Diego is 1PM.
Bus to Tijuana - Buses are available on both sides of the Tijuana border. On the U.S. side, the Greyhound Bus Terminal and Mexicoach are located on the east side of Interstate 5, about 100 feet from the Mexican border. There are several different bus companies lined up in front of the parking lots on the U.S. side of the border. These buses will take you directly to Avenida Revolucion for $1 US each way, or $2 US round trip. They depart on a regular basis, and your maximum wait time is 20 minutes.

Time Zone - Tijuana Mexico lies in the Pacific standard Time Zone or PST. The clock time in this zone is based on the mean solar time of the 105th degree meridian west of the Greenwich Observatory. Pacific Standard Time (PST) is 8 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT-8). Tijuana is in the same time zone as San Diego and Las Angeles. Pacific Time Zone is one hour behind the Mountain Time Zone and three hours behind the Eastern Time Zone. Tijuana Weather - Tijuana is a city in Baja California Norte, Mexico. It is located right across the border from San Diego, California, USA. Its proximity to the United States makes it a very popular tourist destination, especially for day-trippers from San Diego. Visitors can expect an ideal climate for most of the year, with average temperatures during the daytime ranging from 68ºF in January, to 86º in August. The rainy season is short (and tame, with yearly averages close to only 10 inches of rainfall), and encompasses late Winter to early Spring.
