Surfing Volcanoes
Volcanoes is a lava rock reef break, which is on the way to Cab San Quintin. Volcanoes is worth checking out on the way there. Volcanoes is good and can get really heavy, definitely experts only. Volcanoes stretches from the village of "Los Volcanes" to just north of the village of "El Playon," which is also an excellent break. This whole area has great surf that is always going- off. Make sure that you wear booties, due to the sharp lava rocks at Volcanoes.
- Location: 120 miles south of Ensenada. Exit the Highway 1. Just south of the military facility and head west. Look for the yellow sign that says "Entrada y Salida De Vehs Militares" or the white sign "Zona Turisticas De Atractivos Naturales Bahia Falsa Parque Volcanico," stay on the dirt road. It's On the way to the breaks at Cabo San Quintin.
- Swell Direction: Volcanoes is best on West, but because the beach faces west it will pick up just about any swell.
